No Westerner should consider marrying a Chinese bride unless they are fully prepared to understand the value of money in their marriage. It is EVERYTHING and it will become his business the moment money is in danger. Let me simplify: Money is her only value as a human being. So if you earn 30% less this year - she will humiliate you by 30%. 30% less sexual attention. She will shame you in public 30% more. She will reduce your value as a human being by 30% for that year. Remember - you have to earn 30% more ABOVE your previous levels to get back to your level of respect again. Keep in mind - you have to be increasing your money and savings each year too! And if you ever went 'bankrupt' or into debt you should know YOU will become a worthless human being and given that measure of DISrespect. Possibly she can cheat on you with your best friend or something that makes you 'less than nothing' as far as your 'face'. After all - that is what you did to her. And remember it has to be made 'balanced' right. So its better you know this now. There are almost zero exceptions among Mainland Chinese women. If you think you have an exception it's actually an 'act' and the truth will be revealed soon. Add to this psychotic jealousy and a general disrespect for husbands at the best of times. Add to this your culture is not important and is actually less than Chinese culture.

Yes all women are like that. It is a matter of degree. Most women are a 6. You married a 10. She is trying to keep herself to an 8 but she WILL get to a 10 soon. You are not 'free-spirited' but rather she has money as the PRIMARY concern. Above you or anything else. You just don't know it yet.

Lol i think there r a lot of chinese girls in this conversation and they all UNlike bad things abit them. of course there are exceptionas. but listen... if there are so many people talking about chinese women are so material ( majority) yeah totally all aroud me foreigners and people who lived here for ages are saying the same things, you can just not deny it!! These things are here. and as the things that cinese people are so dirty and without manners is here also! You guys go to Bars where most of girls are here for fun and more (that doesn't actually include love in most of the time). So you find a girlfriend who often goes to bar, what do you expect from her ?

There seem to be a lot of posts that reinforce the stereotype of the Asian goldigger. That is not my experience at all, maybe because I don't hangout at the bars or KTV. I am married to a Chinese lady, 5 years now and she could not be different. She lived with me in the UK for 4.5 years and we now live in Nanning. Her family have always been more than welcoming and her mum worries about me as though I were her own son, especially if I go into town on my own. the ladies I have met here and am friends with are all of similar natures. These ladies are all middle aged and I wonder if this has anything to do with it, is it the younger one's that are looking for a sugar daddy. Is it because the younger ones have had more access to western ideas and want it all now. When I started my search for a new partner in 2006 I was very open minded and was prepared to look all around the world. What I did find was a huge number of western women, mainly English and American on the dating sites that openly said they just wanted someone who would take them travelling around the world and give them anything they wanted. I guess gold diggers are everywhere. The Chinese women I spoke to were very sweet and not like that at all. A lot of Chinese see all westerners as rich, compared to them we are, and if you live up to that reputation when you are here maybe thats why you attract the wrong type of ladies. Moths to the the flame. The western guys I know here are mainly middle aged or retired and none of them have ever complained about only attracting the more shallow women. Is it something that is experienced by younger guys here I wonder.

So boring!!! All what i can decipher here is real life experience making way for sour conclusion and generalizations against hyper-sensitive and intolerant nationalist. I can motion only two questions for the "nationalist":
1. Has modern chines borne any aggression from modern Japanese? All that chinese can embrace is overt hatred for Japs because of history yet they wont and cant tolerate a feeble true-ill-life-experience of expats in china. The difference here is one is real and the other is just an illusion but sadly the intensity of real life experience has no meaning in china at all.
2.Who is a true chinese? I t really sucks to learn some chinese are deriding other chinese because of their social status without giving much room for circumspection. No one was born poor or a slut or a cheat or whatever, you name it. We are all the products of the society .............GOOD AND BAD ALIKE, yet I would say some were more fortunate than others.
And as for my fellow expats...........I can only wish you guys a better luck and a better experience .

A graceful,sexy woman would never talk like that, there are other ways to prove a point but I guess they don't teach you that around here...you my dear are a typical,average Chinese woman busy belittling and insulting their men.(I do know some nice Chinese girls too but they are very rare, honestly I wouldn't recommend a Chinese girl to the people I care about...but thats just me).

I think you might be mistaken by the term laowai. It's a term typically used to label white people in general not foreigners. The same way we label Africans of whatever origin as black, though not pc, it has become a thing of habit. I only speak Cantonese myself, but from what I have gathered, guailo is the Cantonese equivalent to laowai.

I had 60 girlfriends in china since i am here 3 years, incl women,girls,lady and 10 from another countries. They all love me, and i love them all... Money is god in china, china has no religion, this is true, but there are some good peoples also, like left world, everywhere is some good peoples and bad peoples exits, but it doesnt means throught judging only one we blaim all country. You must did some stupidity or may be she was asshole, but everybody is not like you, or every girl is not like your wife. So better to stop spreading bullshits here
