House of Pain: Chongqing Man’s Home Filled with Enigmatic Electric Currents
Apr 27, 2013 By eChinacities.com

For the past few months, Mr. Zhu of Chongqing has been living in relatively undesirable circumstances, after finding out (the hard way) that his house was filled with enigmatic electric currents—touching door knobs, windows, sink and even the plants out on the balcony all gave him a nasty shock.

After moving into the apartment in 2009, Zhu noticed that when he used his kitchen faucet, his hand felt strangely numb. He soon began to use electricity-testing pens, and discovered that there were electrical currents running through his kitchen sink and tap. He wasn’t too concerned about it at the time, though after this year’s Spring Festival, the currents became stronger and more widespread, leaving Zhu pretty worried, especially considering that his 82 year-old mother is living with him.

Even after contacting the electricity department and having the entire building’s electricity switched off, the ghostly charges still remained. When other experts arrived, they told Zhu that the reason for the mysterious electrical currents could have something to do with previous residents damaging the electrical lines in the house during renovation, though the issue currently remains unsolved.

At least he won’t be having problems with burglars anytime soon, right?
