Presumably under the assumption that the concept of money equaling power rang true beyond the world of seedy officials, 26 year-old Li Yang has been jailed for 18 months for attempted bribery and firearms charges following an incident at Bath University in the United Kingdom.

Li, the son of a wealthy government official, tried to bribe his university lecturers with 5,000 GBP after he received only 37 percent grade on the dissertation for his master’s degree in innovation and technology management. Li reportedly stated “I am a businessman” before putting the cash on the table in front of two lecturers. After being refused, Li picked up his coat and left, while an air pistol fell out from the pocket.

Li’s lawyer, Blake James, stated that Li had no intention of the using the gun and only used it for “shooting in the garden.”

The student probably thinks the profs receive dozens of these bribes every year and use the accumulated funds to buy houses in California and gold bullion.

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, I mean businessman. Good ol' English justice When I first started in China my salary was 8000rmb in a Vocational College. My Chinese boss took me aside and told me how lucky I was because he was only earning 4000rmb a month. A while later he showed me his new Ford Focus that was 90,000rmb and then told me he bought two, one for his wife and one for him. That's about 3.5 years salary. Later I found out that he was taking bribes to pass students.

Some people really need to know that money can't buy them everything, and that they are not as important as they think they are. Perhaps education can be bribed in China universities I am not sure, but don't try this in the UK! My message to this kid? Serves you right!!!!

too right MSI, they need to learn that when in another country, people dont treat money as king, and will be insulted if you try and bribe them (of cause this isnt applied if you are dealing with MP's)
