GDP for 27 Provinces Reaches Level of High- and Middle-Income Countries

On February 22, the National Bureau of Statistics announced that China’s GDP in 2012 was 51.9 trillion RMB, an increase of 7.8% over the previous year. Among this figure, 24 of China’s 31 provinces exceeded one trillion RMB. Additionally, Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai all reached the level of a high-income country (above 12,276 USD per capita).
While Tibet, Yunnan, Gansu and Guizhou are still at the low income level (1,006-3,975 USD per capita), the remaining 24 provinces have all reached the middle income level (3,976-12,275 USD per capita).
