Across the city of Shenzhen, a new law which prosecutes citizens for behaviour deemed “uncivilized” is set to take effect on March 1.

The law, which will fine people for anti-social acts such as spitting, smoking in a non-smoking area, and failing to clean up pet’s waste is the first of its type in China, with specific fines currently being finalized. Offenders can either pay fines in full or do community service and pay half of the penalty.
