China to Start Collecting Fingerprint Data at Border Checkpoints

The NPC Standing Committee drafted a new law on border checkpoint entry and exit management on December 26th. The law stipulates that the Ministry of Public Security will collect fingerprint data from those entering and exiting China (for national security purposes). In addition, the law also stipulates that overseas Chinese must apply before moving back to China.
