I think this article is a waste of time. The real reason why this person is having financial problems is that they got married and had a child. A single person can do very well for themselves while saving plenty of money. I agree with most of the comments on here. Especially about working illegally. I do not know much about expat work outside of the ESL field, but ESL teachers have a great gig. Housing and those expenses are usually provided. The only expenses from their salary are the party, travel, and miscellaneous expenses. Despite my expensive lifestyle, I am still able to send $1000-$1500 USD to my American bank account. I would actually be hard pressed to spend all of my monthly salary.
