This is encouraging. Hopefully, other students wanting to make it into international universities will realize that even the simplest of topics can make a difference in their applications. Of course, the personal essay is but one of the many factors (a healthy bank account really helps) that colleges consider for admittance. However, a well-constructed essay, coupled with some sincerity and creativity, and of "being who you are," will undoubtedly be in your favor. I've seen the work of several students before and their initial work usually ended up being re-hashed work from the internet, filled with "SAT" words. Hopefully, this will encourage other students to explore, and be proud of, their individual creativity and not what they have copied or memorized.
