Nonsense. I have an M.A. in English Studies from the University of Alberta. I have known some teachers of the kind you describe, but most are intelligent, educated, and doing their best to provide some real education to their students. Most often we are frustrated by the strictures imposed by the schools and universities we work for. I taught writing in the U.S.A.. In Canada I taught math to Canadian kids and adults who needed help, and ESL to immigrants. I came to China because I was invited by some of my Chinese students in Canada. When I got here, I was offered work and, because I was interested in the culture and people, I decided to accept the offer. I'm glad I did.
